Still here. Still no internet out on the farm. Still having a blast.

I have never cooked so many large meals for such crowds in such a short time before. It's fun! And the neighbor kid and James are friends now, and they like to play in the pool, or run around the yard, or ride their little bikes/vehicles/etc.

We're still loving it, of course, trees and all, but I'm getting SO tired of not being done with the old house (where we are now), and of not having internet out there! So here's hoping both of those things get done so we can get back into a good routine without the stress.

Love to all, more later~

Into Each Life a Little Rain Must Fall

Or, at least, 10 days after moving into your new house, straight-line winds of 70 m.p.h. might just knock a couple of enormous tree limbs onto your house.

I can't get too worked up about it, though, due to the fact that, as the old saying above goes, this might be expected. Also, I can't count the number of times someone has told me that as soon as you move into a new house, something happens. Hopefully this one will prove to be not too too expensive. Luckily, no one was hurt, although it was sort of painful to me that, after I slept through the entire process of the tree crashing down on our house, Ben ran into the bedroom and said, 'SUSAN ARE YOU OKAY?!?" while I was in a very deep sleep.

But I'm glad he cares.

And I'm also glad that the deductible on our homeowners' insurance is an amount we can afford, if need be.

And I'm still very glad to be in this new place, trees and all.

Still waiting on the internet, though.

The Good Life

Today, Ben and a couple of his friends did a lot of work with the wood chipper.

James and I sat in the driveway and played with his new dump truck and grader, and then the swings. The chickens ran around and ate bugs and seeds while we did this. We also decided to trim the hedge.

Then our neighbor brought over some fresh-from-the-garden onions and new potatoes. It was shady and breezy in our yard, and darn near perfect.

We are LOVING it! Now if only we could get the internet....

Oh, and my pump arrived! Now I have to wait for someone to call and tell me how to use it. =)

Still no internet

However, we're also still not moved out of the old house completely, so here I am again.

When I got to the old house today, I noticed there was a sign on the door from UPS. Apparently, they tried to deliver my insulin pump (WOO HOO!!) yesterday. But obviously we weren't here (BOO) because we don't live here anymore, and ya know, I distinctly remember telling SEVERAL different people about this issue and making sure the pump company knew where to send the pump, yet, obviously, they don't. WTF, Medtronic?

Oh well. I'M GETTING A PUMP! WHEEE!!!

We got another egg yesterday morning. But comparatively, I think I'm a little more excited about the pump.

Assuming they ever get it to me, that is.

Keep your fingers crossed!

Productive

Typing with one hand: it doesn't end with the end of babyhood. Sometimes your toddler requires SEVERAL hands to remain calm.

In other news...we got our first egg yesterday! Chicken had not been laying any eggs for a few weeks, but yesterday evening when I went to "put Turkey and Chicken to sleep in their bedroom," which is James-y talk for "lock 'em in the coop," sure enough, there was an egg! And I was surprised how big it was, since they're just bantams.

Awesome!

Unfortunately, now we still have to finish moving our stuff out of the old house and clean it. Ugh. Did I ever mention to you how much I hate moving? I thought I might've.

Now I'm at the stage where I'm happy to be in the new place but frustrated because we're not all the way done getting there yet. Off to pack up more stuff and lug it HOME! =)

P.S.

My son no longer believes in playing indoors. Yesterday morning, as we were sitting down to breakfast, he was like, "Can I take mine with me outside?" He went outside and ate breakfast while playing with his new dump truck (from our realtor) and grader (from the previous owner of the house)...while Ben and I sat at the kitchen table and ate. It was awesome!

I have a small hunch that James is really, really, really going to like growing up here.
