Driving Around Town

The other day, James and I were running errands. I was about to make a turn when I realized I had to wait longer, and I said some nonsense word like, "Oh, schmurgle."

James said, "What Mommy say?" so I repeated it to him. He looked thoughtful for a few seconds and then calmly informed me, "Daddy say oh scheisse."

I just about died laughing.

They are always watching you.

Yes. They. Are. They are always watching and listening and remember everything...especially the things you DON'T want them to remember!

Oh, no! I've been thinking for awhile that it's time to can the swearing. Sigh.

So far, all our 17-month-old does is signs, and we haven't taught him any naughty ones.

But the words are coming, I know, and I'll have to pretend to my mother that I have no idea where he learned that language.

I think Ben is expanding his son's world view and positive multicultural attitudes by teaching him to swear in multiple languages. If that's isn't fine parenting, I don't know what is.
